5 STEPS TO SUSTAINABILITY
FOR PATIENTS IN NORTH ARDEN PCN
1. MEDICINE PACKETS
Unopened, unused or out of date medicines should be returned to the pharmacy for disposal. This includes partly used, or unwanted medications.
Cardboard boxes can be disposed of in your at home recycling bins.
Medicine blister packs can be recycled in any Superdrug store.
2. CHECK YOUR MEDICATION
Check your medication before you leave the pharmacy - if there is something you don't need, it can be returned and dispensed again IF it has not left the pharmacy.
3. INJECTION PEN RECYCLING
If you use a Novo Nordisk injection pen, this can be recycled. This includes Ozempic, Novo Rapid, Novo Mix, levemir and Tresiba. Ask your nurse or visit www.pen-cycle.co.uk.
4. INHALERS
Return your inhaler device to the pharmacy for disposal -this is more environmentally friendly than putting it in landfill.
Talk to your Asthma Specialist or Nurse about 'green' inhaler
choices, including swapping your Ventolin to Salamol CFC free.
5. REPEAT MEDICATION
If you have a medication on repeat that you no longer need, please ask your surgery to remove this.
Only order your medication when you need it. If you do not need your medication as you have a stock/ some remaining, advise the POD/ Surgery/ Pharmacy not to order this item at this time.
