Respiratory Conditions

What are Respiratory Conditions?

Lung diseases, also referred to as respiratory diseases, encompass medical conditions that impact the airways and other lung structures. Among the most prevalent respiratory diseases are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, occupational lung conditions, and pulmonary hypertension.

Besides tobacco smoke, various risk factors play a role in these conditions, including air pollution, exposure to chemicals and dust in the workplace, and recurrent lower respiratory infections during childhood. Although chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) cannot be cured, numerous treatments exist that can help to open the airways and ease shortness of breath. These treatments can effectively control symptoms and enhance the quality of life for those affected by these diseases. If left untreated, lung diseases can result in severe health issues, debilitating symptoms, and potentially life-threatening situations.
